• What is an EORI- ID?

The 17-digit EORI number (Economic Operators Registration and Identification Number) is made up of the preceding country code (e.g. DE for Germany) and an alphanumeric sequence of digits and replaces the former German customs number. It is a prerequisite for customs clearance in the European Union. Since the entry into force of the regulation Art. 4k para. 1 (ZK-DVO), the EORI number is essential in order to be able to guarantee unambiguous identification of the customs declarant. Companies and self-employed persons require an individual EORI number before applying for a customs authorisation or before first-time customs clearance.

Info: The EORI number is stated on the commercial or pro forma invoice for consignments up to a goods value of 1,000€. For goods with a higher value, the EORI number is provided as part of the electronic export declaration.
