• When do GLS surcharges apply?
1. Large parcel / volume parcel:
The maximum parcel volume is 150 litres. If this threshold is exceeded, the surcharge for a large parcel applies.
The GLS large parcel is calculated using the following formula:
Length x width x height (in cm) / 1000
2. Length surcharge:
Parcels longer than 150cm are subject to a surcharge. In addition, the maximum length of 200cm must not be exceeded.
3. Goods that cannot be sorted / bulky goods:
GLS charges a surcharge for goods that are “bulky” and have to be sorted manually:
Parcels longer than 120 cm or less than 3 cm high
Tires
Goods in metal or wooden packaging
Items in containers, such as barrels, buckets, canisters or bales of material that are not completely enclosed in corrugated cardboard packaging
