• What is a diesel floater: everything you need to know

Due to the Ukraine conflict and the resulting increase in fuel costs, a diesel floater will be introduced in future. This is a surcharge.

The diesel price of EUR 1.596 per litre in January 2022 will be used as the basis for determining the additional costs. If the diesel price reported by the ADAC (monthly average) rises above this value, the associated additional costs are converted into a percentage surcharge.

Here is an example to illustrate this:

On 06/04/2022, the diesel price was €1.95. A separately shown surcharge of 2.6% is then calculated.

On 07/04/2022, the diesel surcharge was €2.05. A separately disclosed surcharge of 3.4% is then charged.

On 08/04/2022, the diesel surcharge was €2.15. A separately recognised surcharge of 4.1% is then calculated.

This is used to calculate a monthly average value, which is shown in the invoices. In our example, we have an average surcharge of 3.366%

If the diesel price is below €1.596, no surcharge is calculated.
